September Salutations :waving_hand:

Your monthly MetMo update is prepared for you and ready to serve! With no September newsletter this month, this will be your main helping all of things MetMo. Read on and get your fill!

Set Your Alarms for Precision Grip

This Thursday at 4pm Precision Grips launches into the Kickstarter atmosphere! :rocket: We know you guys are already poised and ready to go…

In case you missed it, you can get 95% off a Precision Grip leather case! As a MetMo insider, you can reserve its leather case for £1 now and £1 when you pledge on Kickstarter.

Here’s how:

  • Reserve with £1 today to receive an exclusive launch link by email.
  • Back Precision Grip using that link and add the case to your pledge for £1.

That’s £2 total for a £35 leather case!

(We really tried to make it free, but the Kickstarter powers that be said we can’t. You can’t even buy a Creme Egg for £1 now, what’s the world coming to eh?)

The Biggest MetMo Event Ever!

Okay, so it was only the second MetMo event ever. But it was bigger, busier and considerably more metally than the last one. Plus, we had pizza! We don’t have physical shops (for now), so getting to meet the people behind the orders is always special. Turns out our customers are every bit as interesting, curious, and slightly obsessed with clever engineering as we hoped!

We had an absolute blast and hope everyone who came along did too. Thanks for making it such a good one. We plan to open our doors again next year and look forward to meeting more of you then!

News From The Shop Floor

It’s a Foam Party!

Our Pocket Grip foam has arrived, and the team in the warehouse have been building forts with the boxes. This means we have all the packaging ready for Pocket Grip, so all we need now is the metal itself!

Welcome to the Leather Workshop

We’ve had some images from our leather supplier, and Pocket Grip pouch production is well underway! These are coming along nicely, and we can’t wait to get them shared with you.

James has also been hard at work making our initial samples for the Precision Grip, so be sure to keep an eye out for those when the campaign goes live. (Yours won’t be made by James, because while he is our resident sewist he’s not quite got enough space in his spare room for mass production).

Passed QC with flying colours

We got our first production samples of Pocket Grip over, which means we’ve been able to run through our rigorous QC process and feedback to our machinists - although we didn’t really have anything to say! This might be up there with one of the best initial runs we’ve had (touch wood!), and QC notes were minimal. This all means we’re well on our way to begin shipping much earlier than initially planned. We’re not talking days here people, we mean weeks ahead!

The Next MetMo…

The code name for this product for the longest time was ‘Death Star’ - and that’s all we’ll say for now.

Additional Reading

This month’s theme was woodworking and all the joy it brings. Woodworking projects heavily incorporate hand tools, and as lovers of history and old patents we know sometimes antique tools are just better. We cover this in our blog post "Where to find antique hand tools in the 21st century". Grab yourself a cuppa and have a read!

Dang, the one time I follow the kickstarter advice and set up a day-1 reminder, rather than checking the forum first! Ah well, some you win, some you lose.

PS: The store page for the £1 reservation is still up.
